Woodworking

People ask why I got into woodworking.  I don't really have an answer.  I kind of think it was something I've always been interested in, but I don't know if that's true.  What happened was that I got the house and there was a workbench in the basement.  I moved it out to the garage.  I went over to Barnes & Noble and picked up a copy of Getting Started in Woodworking, by Aime Fraser.  Then a Dewalt 12" Compound Miter Saw, some cheap chisels from Home Depot and . . . .

It's been almost ten years since I started.  The best luck I had was coming across Woodnet Forums.  One of my favorites places on the Internet.  The amount of knowledge on the site is unbelievable.  Not just woodworking, but just about anything you need to know about any trade, you can get your answer there.  I've learned not to do anything around the house, whether by myself or hiring someone, without getting advice from people on Woodnet.
